Wide saddle my horse is REALLY wide. what kind of saddle do i need?
i have a haflinger i just bought. i usually ride bareback, but when i go into the mountains and go camping i will need a saddle. he is very broad and flat on top. what kind of saddle will i need. i really like aussies , but i don't know what to get. i've always had quarter horses. f.y.i. he has no withers really... he's like a table top. i have an aussie and it doesn't fit properly.
well because of the size of your horses back you are gonna need atleast a full quarter horse tree, possibly extra wide depending on how well the full quarter fit. unfortunatly not many aussie saddles come in full quarter horse bars. if you like the style of an aussie saddle check out the circle y imus 4 beats endurance saddles. you can get them with or without the horn and they come in the full quarter bars.i own a saddle &tack store in norco,ca. and if you have any more questions you can contact me via e-mail or call all tacked up @ 951-272-1243 ask for andrea

Used JRD Dressage / All Purpose Saddle for Sale 17.5" Seat, Medium-Wide Tree
i have a horse that has an abcess on his wither... some say that it is my saddle that is causing it?
I was just wondering if because my saddle is to "wide" for my horses wither that it could cause such? Also if anyone has good brands for saddles, and in the mean time if anyone can think of anything that could help?
Pommel of saddle should clear whithers. If saddle seems wide and pommel seems low, have saddle checked for a cracked or broken tree.
Prominent whithers may require custom saddle or pad. Even a moderately priced saddle should have good generic craftsmanship. Pommel should allow free movement of whithers.
If you actually have an open sore near your ‘taint’, then yes you should definitely stop and let it heal. Observe standard procedures for open wounds. If you just have a sore butt, that is something else. A sore butt will eventually go away provided there isn’t something else exasterbating the situation. The question is how long to you just wait and see. In geek terms, we’ve run into the halting problem. Depending on how big you are and how used to biking your butt is, two – four weeks of break-in time might not be unreasonable. However I would at least start thinking about other factors. A saddle that works for one person might not work for another so you can’t just say “Is this a good saddle?” If you have wide hips, a wide saddle is good a narrow saddle is bad. Likewise a wide saddle is murder for folks with narrow sit bones. Have you measured your sit bones? If not, go to a bike shop and use their little memory foam measurement pad. If the width is right, it probably isn’t the saddle and if the width is wrong… it almost certainly is. Four miles isn’t a long enough commute to cause me to wear shorts. Anything over about 10 miles and I would. You’ll probably be fine with the right saddle and time for your butt to adjust. Panniers are awesome. Even if your butt doesn’t hurt, panniers are still awesome. Less back strain, less sweaty back, all around better. I promise you won’t regret buying panniers. Orlieb has a laptop bag that is nice. I use the Trek interchange system with a couple of grocery panniers. Shop around at REI.com and talk to the local bike shop. Some systems require that the bags/rack match so decide on the panniers and trunk bag and get whatever the matching rack is.
Ha. They should've profiled me. I bike every day and I look like a total dork. If any potential bikers need assurance that they can bike with the massive clique of fixed gear hipsters, take a look at this guy (thumbs right at me) on his Giant Cypress comfort bike with the wide saddle.
I kid of course. There are all sorts out there and I just commented to Shannon this morning that the light rail path seems busier. Good news!

It's pretty simple really, if you're looking to lose fat you have to burn it off. You don't have to go to a gym, just do anything that gets you working and burning calories whether it be running in the neighborhood or just dancing around in your place listening to music. Also, make sure to eat in a healthy manner or you will negate a lot of the positives you are doing. Final ingredients = patience and consistency.
And you're very attractive already so don't worry too much about it!
You can have a saddle-fitter out to your house (or wherever your horse is) to fit the saddle.
My friend barrel races very competitively in a trail saddle. She had a barrel saddle but it didn't fit her horse, and she found a nice, cheap trail saddle that fit him and it works great. You could get a seat cushion, the fleece ones aren't slippery at all and allowed where I show. Also, my stirrups were a little slippery, an easy fix is to wrap them in VetWrap. My stirrups are wrapped – it's also fun because you can get a color to match the rest of your tack or saddle pad. It'll make your stirrups "sticky". I only went through 3 rolls of VetWrap last summer, and at $1.50 each, it's pretty cheap.
The saddle in the picture would work for barrel racing in my opinion.

Why? I don’t mind it. I don’t want a fat, wide saddle. I don’t think that ever looks good on a bike. I like the current saddle because there aren’t any rips, holes, etc. It’s in good condition and generic looking so that even with other handlebars it’ll still fit the bike. And for other handlebars I’m contemplating between a touring drop and riser MTB.

That pipe certainly looks well suited for you Tom, and a nice smoker to boot.
