phun: my unstoppable tri tank
betta in a 20 gallon?
i have just put a malabar puffer in one of my bettas fish bowls he is MAYBE 1/3 inch long and the bowls all get tri-weekly small water changes will the puffer be ok until i finish cycling his minibow 2.5
2nd the betta is the biggest of my fish in the 20 gallon been running for 8 months his new tankmates accept him i watched closley for 2 hours just to make sure
his tankmates are 1 clown pleco witch i will be returning to the pet store VERY soon because of attitude problems and it charges at everything in the tank exept the betta 2 zebra danios and 4 harlquin rasboras
the problem is can the betta eat tetramin tropical flakes the other fish are rather glutenous and will probably eat the bettas bettamin (witch for some reason gives them indigestion...any thoughts hmm hmm) and i want him to get proper nutrition sooooooooooooo give me a answer
Yes! your Betta can be quite healthy eating tetramin tropical flakes. Just be sure he gets to some of them b4 the other fish snap them up. The flakes will even make his colors more vibrant. We had a blue male Betta in our 20gallon tank. He ate the tropical flakes, and even claimed a small area of tank as his domain lol. With a Betta its the "I was here first rule" If he tries to fight bag hi them rearang sum plants so it looks different then let him back with the others in the "NEW" tank lol. Then hes not at home and must except the current room mates who came b4 him.

That sounds like black molly disease(its a real disease) google it, mollys require some sort of aquarium salt in their tank, the older the molly the more it requires, also many invertabraes dont do very well in aquariums which are medicated, i have always used 1 teaspoon of aquarium salt to every 5 gallons of water in my tank. I have never had an issue with any bacterial infections or fish dieing. I also wanted to point out that 25 percent water change every 4 weeks is actually not enough, the pet store guys are idiots. I do 25 percent a week on all my tanks. This helps keep any nitrate buildup and the potential for an ammonia or nitrite spike. Sorry about your fish and snail, i would start using aquarium salt in your tank and up the water changes to 20 percent at least every 2 weeks if not every week. Good luck and hope this helped
aquarium salt prevens and or treats 77% of the fish diseases and bacteria that exist in the aquatic world, its a great preventative and fish tend to react better than the heavy medications on the market today which usually kill are you beneficial bacteria when used.
Your tank is very poorly stocked and these fish will continue getting sick off and on.
If your "catfish" are common plecos, they could get 3' long. They like a more neutral-basic water over acidic. They release a lot of ammonia. If they are cories they will be fine and could use a school.
Neon tetras do survive well in high temps and acidic water.
Mollies do best in slightly cooler water with a high alkalinity and high pH and even some salt. I suspect the molly will never be healthy in your settings.
The guppies have probably taken all they can as well.
I suggest you invest in your own API liquid test kit and test on a daily basis to make sure everything is stable. Then you do some research about your fish and their optimum conditions. You'll probably want to remove the molly and perhaps the catfish if they are plecos. Then start changing the water in your tank at 25% weekly to help reduce the built up chemicals. NO MORE MEDICINES. Medicines are just going to harm your beneficial bacteria and throw your tank water out of wack. You need to stabalize the water in order to have healthy fish that can fight off sickness on their own. As I stated, you have fish that thrive in different conditions. If your water is naturally more acidic, your molly and likely your guppies will never thrive. However, if you try to change the pH, your tetras will not thrive. You need to pick which fish you want to keep and make the conditions right for those fish.
Sounds like there blaming your PH and saying that might be the problem i keep my angel fish in PH higher that what it should be and have never had a disease or death It sounds like a water Quality issue ammonia and nitrite sounds like you have a fungus and fin rot in the tank again caused by poor water conditions
If that was my situation i would go and buy a liquid test kit i use API and test the levels your self if your levels are high and you keep treating the fish for disease it will keep coming back until your water parameters are at 0
THis is just my guess at what may be wrong

You've got a nasty bacterial infection.
I'd advise you to put all the fish in another smaler tank with salt (1 teaspoon/gallon) and see if that makes them well.
Take all the water, plants, gravel out of the 30 gal and wash them all with non-iodidzed salt.
