Had to have a little go at this one before I go 'off-air' for 3 weeks. First time I've heard this message with a slant on the 'bags of gold' being God's grace, love and forgiveness to us but I reckon that's an excellent interpretation of the meaning rather than the 'sharing of other gifts God has given to us'. In the context of how can we really be 'Jesus' to others around us, especially 'risky' people as you refer to them, isn't it unconditional love and forgiveness that he wants us to share with others, whoever they are. It's a timely reminder to us not to judge others but rather to show love and acceptance. Guess I'm repeating what you say but I think it is a really good message from Matthew 25.
One closing thought that could be the subject of another message – taking risks rather than keeping it to ourselves. Just as 2 of the 3 guys took risks to gain a big return, isn't that also saying something to us as 'church' that we mustn't bury our 'treasures' (eg. Lutheran traditions) but rather take risks in doing things differently so that 'risky people' might even take a second look at us and want to know more!
