We lobby them, and we send them E-mails and letters with our requests. We vote them in, and we vote them out. We are all represented.
We had eight years with Bush. I didn't like him; I didn't vote for him the second time around. But you know what? He was still my president, even if I was embarrassed every time he opened his mouth. He was still my president, too. He represented me. Now we have Obama. No matter how you feel about him, he is your president too, and he represents you. But you know what else? Whatever other criticisms I might have for Obama, he at least has gone out of his way to make Republicans feel welcome. Just because you don't like an elected leader doesn't mean you are not represented.
It is the protesters' First Amendment Right to free speech and peaceable assembly that allows them to protest taxation without representation…even if the grievance really is imaginary and comical. It is the media's first amendment right to call them tea-baggers.
