Taking my anologue camera to abroad, take the film in hand luggage or case?
so will film be damaged by the x ray that all luggage has to go through? but which will be the least dangerous for my film? hand luggage or my case which will go into the hold? thanks
Don't check the film. The scanners they use on the luggage that goes into to hold are much stronger and will fog the film or give it a distinct curvy line. Keep your film in a camera bag with you. If it's lower than ISO 800 film it should be fine to send through the hand bag scanners a few times. If you have ISO 800 or higher film you can request that the film be hand inspected. The same can be done with film if you go through more than a few check points.
If you can, buy your film locally and have it developed there. You may even be able to mail it to yourself as well.

Take a friend and if it's a big enough airport you guys can like do lunch there at one of the pre-security restaurants. I used to live in Portland, OR and we always rode out to the airport, ate dinner, and shopped, PDX has a great little before-security mall-type area full of shops and food.
