You'll also need a groom box with the basic things:
-Hard brush -Soft brush -Curry comb -Mane/tail comb or brush -Hoofpick -Fly spray -Rubber bands (if you plan on braiding when/if you go into competitions)
You'll also need a place to board the horse/pony. If you just have a pasture to keep your horse, he'll probably need a run-in shed to keep the wind/rain/snow off of him. You'll need feed, supplements (if your horse needs it), water of course [an automatic waterer is always nice if you can't come out every day to refill his water bucket].
You will also need to vaccinate your horse annually (unless your horse is on a different plan) for things like West Niles, strangles, tetnus, etc.
You may want carrots if you plan on training him, or as just a little treat sometimes
There are many websites out there that tell you all about owning a horse.
Owning a horse is expensive, but in my opinion, horses are worth it
